During a Block of the Month project in which Sue was teaching over thirty stitches to hundreds of participants, a void in the stitching instruction readily available became apparent, and she began to create detailed diagrams to provide clear instructions to the stitches being used in the program. Once the BOM was over, requests for an accessible resource of Sue's favorite stitches began to grow, and Creative Stitching was born. Filled to the brim with stitches and inspiration, Creative Stitching was eventually updated to Creative Stitching Second Edition, adding updated information and even MORE stitches! Now Sue's best selling book, Creative Stitching Second Edition provides clear illustrations, is packed full of knowledge Sue has gained from years of stitching, and page after page, stunning photographic examples of stitches are captured in Sue's playful and recognizable style.

The first section of Creative Stitching includes detailed information on the needles and threads most used in Sue's work. This provides you with a reference for the size and uses of Chenille, Tapestry, and Milliners needles. In addition to a resource on needles, Sue gives you a run down on the core group of threads she uses in the majority of her pieces, including content, uses, appearance, texture, suggested needles, and more. This section covers not just Sue's lines of threads but some of her favorites from outside of her own range. A short tutorial on wool appliqué and the Whipstitch, as well as information about our hand dyed wool gets you ready to start on your next wool project!

Creative Stitching features eight chapters of instruction for the stitches featured most in Sue's work: Outline Stitches, Textural Filler Stitches, Linear Filler & Outline Stitches, Wrapped & Cast On Stitches, Circular Stitches, Decorative Edging Stitches, Dimensional Stitches, and Beading Stitches. For your convenience, all of Sue's books and patterns use Creative Stitching for stitch instruction, including page numbers to make finding the stitch simple! Each stitch includes detailed written instruction, high quality illustrated diagrams as well as crystal clear, full color photo examples of the stitch in Sue's work. You'll find a vast amount of information and tips for creating 30 different stitches in these incredibly helpful chapters.

The Next Steps chapter features 20 new stitches that were not included in the first edition of Creative Stitching. Here you'll find some more advanced or unique stitches, as well as newer stitches Sue has begun to incorporate more frequently into her work. These are the perfect extension of the original fifty in Creative Stitching First Edition to expand your stitch arsenal!

Stitch Variations includes eight pages filled with illustrated examples of lots of variations and combinations of stitches to try in your next creative project! Use these ideas as a building block to play with your work, and create your own stitch combinations for a piece that is uniquely yours.

Designed to be used hand in hand with the book, the Creative Stitching Needle Pack includes the needles to create all of the stitches featured in Creative Stitching Second Edition. This is the perfect starter pack or stash refresher! The colored tubes match the colored spools of the coordinating thread weight in Sue's top-selling line of Eleganza Perle Cotton, so picking the right needle is foolproof!
