If you’ve mastered the basics of a Yorkshire Button, it’s time to expand your creative possibilities—Sue Spargo style. 

In this next-level class, you’ll learn techniques for transforming simple Yorkshire Buttons into expressive, dimensional embellishments. Think vibrant berries, playful ladybugs, layered florals, and more—each designed to bring texture, color, and personality to your work. 

This class focuses on refinement, variation, and creative application—helping you shape, embellish, and adapt your buttons to add distinctive, hand-crafted detail to any project.

Prerequisite: Must be comfortable making a basic Yorkshire Button. 

What You’ll Learn: 

  • Gain confidence, expand your imagination, and see creative possibilities in new ways 
  • How to create dimensional motifs like berries, insects, and flowers 
  • Tips for achieving structure, balance, and consistency 
  • Ways to incorporate these elements into your quilting and stitching projects

Meet the instructor!

Kelly is Sue’s eldest daughter, and has worked for the business since 2012. Kelly oversees our wholesale and retail websites, and new product research. Through her discoveries of new and interesting things for our website, she has fallen in love with color and texture. Alongside Sue, Kelly designed our line of Eleganza Perle Cotton. Kelly has assisted Sue in teaching many of her workshops and classes, and enjoys seeing different threads come to life on small scale designs. In her free time, Kelly loves to be in her garden, knitting, and being mom to our sweet n’ sassy studio dog, Amari.

Supply List: 

We will have items available for purchase during class, so no worries if you don’t have everything on this list!

  • Class is held in our Ohio Studio located at 3792 Boettler Oaks Dr, Green, OH 44685. 
  • Coffee and tea are provided, as well as use of our fridge and kitchen. Lunch will not be provided, please bring a bagged lunch or plan accordingly!
  • Supplies are available for purchase in-store during class if not purchased ahead of time.

Cancellation fees reflect the cost of registration, staff, instructor contracts, material acquisitions, and other services. This policy applies to all registrants, regardless of the reason for canceling. We encourage you to take our cancellation policies into consideration before registering for classes.

If you need to cancel your registration, you have the following options:

Transfer: 

Registrants who cancel their enrollment in a workshop held in our Ohio studio may make a one-time transfer to any other workshop held in our studio.

  • Transfers may be made either in the current workshop season, or any workshop in the following year. Transfers must be made more than 15 days prior to the workshop, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee.

Refund:

If you prefer not to transfer your workshop registration, the following fees apply:

  • More than 30 days prior to the workshop, refund of your deposit minus a 20% cancellation fee.
  • Less than 30 days prior to the workshop, no refunds will be issued.

Redirect:

Registrants are able to send someone in their place into the workshop for no additional fee. In this case, no refunds will be issued, payment arrangements are the responsibility of the original registrant if needed.
