Unicorn & Turtle Landscape Pincushion

Join Deborah Fisher for a truly whimsical workshop where you’ll create your own three-dimensional Fantasy Landscape Pincushion! Choose between a charming handmade ceramic turtle or unicorn base from Fish Museum and Circus, then let your imagination take over as you build a miniature world atop your pincushion.

Using a variety of fibers, fabrics, embellishments, and found materials, you’ll learn techniques for creating dimensional landscape elements such as trees, rolling hills, grasses, clouds, and other imaginative details. Deborah will also introduce simple embroidery stitches to add texture and personality to your creation, along with a variety of techniques for filling and shaping your pincushion.

Whether you choose a magical unicorn or a woodland-inspired turtle, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind pincushion and a collection of fun, creative techniques to carry into future projects.

Deborah's handmade ceramic base is included with the class.

Meet the instructor!

Deborah Fisher is an object and pattern designer and a lifelong maker of handmade treasures. She is the circus juggler and museum curator behind Fish Museum and Circus, a studio specializing in charming miscellany for the sewing room, maker’s studio, and creative home. Deborah’s quirky, colorful style shines in all her creations — from her popular ceramic and wool pincushions to her distinctive sewing patterns and whimsical sewing- and yarn-themed stickers and notecards. She is also a licensed fabric designer for Windham Fabrics and lives on the North Shore of Long Island, NY.

Please bring the following supplies to class:

  • Class is held in our Ohio Studio located at 3792 Boettler Oaks Dr, Green, OH 44685. 
  • Coffee and tea are provided, as well as use of our fridge and kitchen. Lunch will not be provided, please bring a bagged lunch or plan accordingly!
  • Supplies are available for purchase in-store during class if not purchased ahead of time.

Cancellation fees reflect the cost of registration, staff, instructor contracts, material acquisitions, and other services. This policy applies to all registrants, regardless of the reason for canceling. We encourage you to take our cancellation policies into consideration before registering for classes.

If you need to cancel your registration, you have the following options:

Transfer: 

Registrants who cancel their enrollment in a workshop held in our Ohio studio may make a one-time transfer to any other workshop held in our studio.

  • Transfers may be made either in the current workshop season, or any workshop in the following year. Transfers must be made more than 15 days prior to the workshop, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee.

Refund:

If you prefer not to transfer your workshop registration, the following fees apply:

  • More than 30 days prior to the workshop, refund of your deposit minus a 20% cancellation fee.
  • Less than 30 days prior to the workshop, no refunds will be issued.

Redirect:

Registrants are able to send someone in their place into the workshop for no additional fee. In this case, no refunds will be issued, payment arrangements are the responsibility of the original registrant if needed.
