Of A Feather

5-Day Studio Class

Tickets for this Event are Sold Out

Join Sue Spargo in her newest studio class!

Choose your favorite block from the book and begin your five day adventure into background layering techniques, wool applique, and dazzling embellishments. Learn something new from the queen of stitching, and find inspiration from these fine-feathered birds!
From the block of your choosing, you'll layer your background before appliquéing your bird and wreath. Bring your block to life with fun florals and leaves through applique and embellishment using a wide range of threads, fibers and embroidery stitches! Finish your block as a wall hanging, cushion, or continue on with the rest of the quilt.

In this class, you will:
  • Choose a block from Sue's Of A Feather Book to begin your stitching journey!
  • Learn techniques for background layering with cotton fabric and wool applique
  • Learn a variety of techniques to add texture and dimension like velvet embossing, yo-yo's, perfect leaves, stitched stems and more!
  • Embellish your block using a variety of embroidery stitches using fun threads and fibers
  • Get one-on-one assistance from Sue throughout the creative process
  • Enjoy the company of other like-minded stitchers

Of a Feather was inspired by the indigenous Otomi people, their multicolored textiles, oversized patterns, and whimsical layouts. Working from a parchment background, this quilt comes to life with multilayered wool appliqué and dimensional embroidery and takes on a modern feel with its bright, bold color palette.
