Hand Stitched Round Bottom Bag

Play with color and texture to create a round drawstring pouch inspired by the traditional Japanese Komebukuro! In this modern twist, we will experiment with piecing, layering with applique, sashiko, and embroidery stitching. Options for your bag are endless!

Students will make a small bag in class, but will also receive templates for two additional sizes!

  • Incorporate a variety of fabrics like eco printed wool and fabric, natural dyes, linen, silk, etc.
  • Learn different techniques like straight and curved piecing, sashiko and boro stitching, English Paper Piecing, needle-turn or raw-edge applique, and more!
  • Get inspired by a plethora of samples
  • Hand Stitched Round Bottom Bag Pattern by KZ Stevens
  • Fabric or wool for outside (this can be pieced!)
  • Fabric for lining and tabs (approx. 1/3 yd)
  • Cotton cording for drawstring (approx. 2 yds)
  • Small bits of cotton, linen, silk, eco prints, etc. for patches and applique
  • EPP Hexagons
  • Embroidery or Sashiko thread in a variety of weights
  • Chalk pencil
  • Sashiko templates
  • Creative Stitching Circles Easy or Circle Ruler, Hexagons Easy or Hexagon Ruler, Squares, Ovals, Triangles, etc.
  • Sewing machine with neutral thread (we will have two machines set up for use, but please bring yours if you are able!)
  • Bagged lunch

Class is held in our Ohio Studio located at 3755 Boettler Oaks Dr, Suite B, Uniontown, OH 44685.

Coffee and tea are provided, as well as use of our fridge and kitchen. Lunch will not be provided, please bring a bagged lunch or plan accordingly!

Supplies are available for purchase in-store during class if not purchased ahead of time.

Cancellation fees reflect the cost of registration, staff, instructor contracts, material acquisitions, and other services. This policy applies to all registrants, regardless of the reason for canceling. We encourage you to take our cancellation policies into consideration before registering for classes.

If you need to cancel your registration, you have the following options:

Transfer: 

Registrants who cancel their enrollment in a workshop held in our Ohio studio may make a one-time transfer to any other workshop held in our studio.

  • Transfers may be made either in the current workshop season, or any workshop in the following year. Transfers must be made more than 15 days prior to the workshop, and are subject to a 5% cancellation fee.

Refund:

If you prefer not to transfer your workshop registration, the following fees apply:

  • More than 30 days prior to the workshop, refund of your deposit minus a 20% cancellation fee.
  • Less than 30 days prior to the workshop, no refunds will be issued.

Redirect:

Registrants are able to send someone in their place into the workshop for no additional fee. In this case, no refunds will be issued, payment arrangements are the responsibility of the original registrant if needed.
