Binding Basics

Discover how to flawlessly bind your quilts using a mix of machine and hand sewing. This essential skill will give your quilts a professional, polished finish, and it’s easier than you think once you know the right techniques! Explore various techniques for sewing straight or bias binding using binding fabrics, fussy cutting, or even your backing fabric. Learn how to cut, join, and press your binding strips for a smooth, even result, and perfect the mitered corner for a professional looking finish!

We will share a wide variety of creative ways to upgrade your binding through embroidery stitching, beading, adding buttons, piping with gimp, and more!

Meet the instructor!

Sarah has been with the Sue Spargo team since July 2021 and has been a fabulous addition to our web team! Her ambition, creativity and bubbly personality radiate through Sue Spargo newsletters and social media posts, photography for our website, and is even stitched into some of the samples in our retail shop. When Sarah is not working, she enjoys spending time with her three daughters, stitching, sewing, crochet and photography.
