Learn to create a variety of unique buttons!

Buttons are a great way to embellish your quilts, embroidery projects, knitwear, wear as jewelry, and so much more! Enjoy a full day of button making using two different techniques: Dorset Buttons and Shirt Lace Buttons, and experiment with threads in varying weights.

In this class, you will:

  • Begin with the basics like the traditional Blandford Cartwheel, and discuss different variations including a fan-style button and the Maltese Cross
  • Take a look at styles inspired by vintage buttons of the 1950's and experiment with adding beads and other embellishments
  • Learn about Shirt Lace Buttons, a more modern innovation than the Dorset Button
  • Learn how to make different styles of Shirt Lace Buttons, beginning with the Star Shirt Lace, Austrian Shirt Lace, and finish with a popular favorite, the Lace Shirtwaist
  • Get inspired from a plethora of samples, and finish the day with a selection of unique buttons!
