In Cohana's iconic colors, these pin cushions call back to the traditional Kokeshi dolls with their sweet bob hair style and wooden, limbless body. Kokeshi dolls are said to have been created when various woodworkers in Japan's northern Tohoku region started carving dolls to sell to visitors to the local hot springs.

Of the eleven types of Kokeshi dolls, thee Tsugaru Kokeshi have the shortest history and are known for their modern patterns, paintings and techniques. These sweet pin cushion dolls were designed in partnership with The Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum, which was established by local committees to preserve the regions craft and develop new styles in the Kokeshi artform.
