Shibori dying is an ancient technique that results in soft, beautifully blurry patterns. Originating in China, with the first written documentation from 238 CE, Shibori eventually made its way to Japan where it gained mass popularity in the 17th century as an Indigo dying technique. Shibori artists use thread to stitch repeated patterns onto the fabric, creating far more intricate designs than modern tie-dye. Our Shibori wool is hand dyed in our Ohio studio, hand stitched by our staff, and hand dyed a second time to create unique designs in our signature color palette.
