(If your cotton or silk is wrinkled, you can press it with a warm dry iron before printing)
1. Choose your design to Cyanotype print; photo negative, flowers, found objects, clip art, original art, etc.
2. Remove the Cyanotype material from the black UV light safe bag in a low-lit room or in outdoor shade.
3. Lay your design on the Cyanotype material and secure it by covering it with glass, use pins, or tape or nothing at all.
4. Set it in the sun for 10-20 minutes. (making small test prints will help to gauge your exposure time, but are generally not necessary).
5. Turnover your print and expose the other side, if desired.
6. Remove your design from the Cyanotype material and rinse it in water until the water runs clear (approx. 5 minutes).
7. Your Cyanotype printed image will appear immediately and darken as you rinse.
8. To change your “cyan” Cyanotype print to “Prussian” blue, spray hydrogen peroxide on your print, then rinse in water 1-2 minutes or wait 24 hours and you will get the same results.
9. Your cotton and silk Cyanotype print can be pressed, after printing, with a warm dry iron or place in a clothes dryer.
