This pincushion is created from cut glass, Kiriko, made in Otaru to create the illusion of flower petals. After a fire and an earthquake damaged their original factory, Fukagawa Glass Kogei relocated from Tokyo to Otaru in Hokkaido, where they began to produce Otaru Kiriko, a cut glass native to the region. The cushion itself is made of wool dyed in Hokkaido.
The top of this pincushion is removable, allowing you to store items inside.
