It was a wonderful treat to return to Madeline Island again this year. This is one of my most favorite places to teach a five day workshop. It is a true retreat from the everyday routine. We shared the school this time with a photography class taught by Doug Beasley. I love being exposed to other creative mediums and not only quilting. It is also a great retreat for husbands as there are many outdoor activities to keep them busy. Many fish, cycle, golf and kayak and a couple have also takes a photography or painting class. My daughter Aimee joined me and spent her time reading and relaxing before returning to school. It was good to have her along.
My class was filled with creative students each working on a small embellishment project. We worked on layered backgrounds, small applique elements and stitching using many different fibers. I loved the variety of projects that were started in the workshop.
If you are looking for a true retreat to share with a friend, husband or on your own join me next year at MISA July 14-18 or September 8-12 2014.
