December – Moving along

I am not sure where December went never mind 2012! It has been a full and very eventful year. Business has been booming especially with the release of my book ‘Creative Stitching’. We had 2000 copies printed in early November and I was blown away that they all sold in 3 weeks. We reprint 3000 and have already sold 1000. I am ecstatic that it has been so well received and many thanks to all of you that took the time to email me such wonderful words of encouragement. My dad was the one behind all the great graphics. He spent his whole summer on this project and we both believe we met our objectives.  It will be a great aid in my classes as well as inspiration for all my students.

The other very exciting news is that after running the business out of my basement in my home for 8 1/2 years we made a very positive move into an office space 2 miles from my home. My dad was here and was able to spend some time helping me look for a space. We signed on the Monday and moved on the Friday. Cathy, Kelly and I with the help of  Two Men and a Truck moved 2 truck loads of stock, shelving etc a week before Christmas. It was really hard work but we are so happy in our new home. No more stairs and double the space.

Our first shipment was Wendy and my fabric line ‘Folkloric Blooms’ by Robert Kaufman. Kelly has just managed to get it all up on the website. www.suespargo.com It is selling very well and when I come home form Australia at the end of the month I will be sharing quilts and kits made from the line.

2012 was a full year I traveled to Canada twice, Italy, Australia and New Zealand to teach as well as many locations with in the US. Worked on a new fabric line and two ribbon lines with Wendy. Finished up my BOM Earth and Twig on a really high note. Thanks for all the lovely emails about the design and program. Found out my kids love to travel as much as me. Aimee went to London and is now in India. Andrew went to Paris and Hawaii and Kelly is on her way to Australia with me as I write. Jason is finishing up culinary school in Portland and he was our main cook over the holidays. I could not have done this without the dedicated staff I have. Many thanks to Cathy, Mary and Kelly for putting up with me. You are all very special! Also a big thanks to my dad (mentor and book publisher), mom (accountant) and Wendy  (dyer, creator and incredible talent my sister)

Kelly and I are on our way to Australia for a teaching cruise out of Sydney and around New Zealand. We will be back at the end of the month. I hope to blog our exciting travels.

I am very excited for 2013. It is full of teaching with a couple of International trips as well as a record number of participants in my BOM program.

Many thanks to all for your support and encouragement. I am looking forward to another creative year.
