Stitchin’ Post – Sisters Oregon

I have just spent a wonderful 5 days in Sisters Oregon teaching a 3 day collaborative Folk Art class with Gwen Marston and two days of leaf embellishment at the Stitchin’ Post in Sisters. This is one of my favorite places to teach I love the NW and we were even treated to the first snow fall of the season. It has been cool but sunny just perfect weather to sew.

Gwen and I had 40 very enthusiastic, creative students. Our theme was trees and each student designed a fun piece incorporating the theme. The classes were held at the Five Pines Resort we had a lovely large room for class and walked to the local Brew Pub for lunch each day. Many students worked on a few stitches for embellishment.

My leaf classes were fun we spent the days layering and embellishing with wonderful fibers.

On Monday evening I shared a few stitches with the staff at the store. We had a relaxed evening eating and stitching on a wool needle case.

In between classes I have been working on stitching on a binding on a new quilt for market as well as stitching on my block of the month. I am heading home today and will be turning around tomorrow to fly to Houston for Quilt Market. Kelly and Cathy have been packing and assembling all week so our bags should be packed. I will just need to throw my clothes in the washing machine and pack again for our next venture.

Many thanks Tamara , Jean and all the staff at the Stitchin’ Post for making me feel so welcome.

I too had an amazing time in this workshop! My mom Sally Jo and I are signed up for next year too! Too bad Gwen won’t be there! It would be great to have her there along with Sue and Tonye!!! I got to a place where I was really, really happy with my colors. Getting there was half the battle. The students here were amazing too – so glad to have met such a great group of people. Getting to learn from Sue and Gwen was fantastic! I always take away so many new ideas! Thanks so much Sue!

    Sue,
So enjoyed myself this past week. So full of inspiration and incredibly wonderful and talented people. My most favorite time with you was the leaf class. Learning all the stitches and transforming my little plain leaf into a little work of art was really wonderful. Wish it had been 2 days or 5!
Hope all is going well with you Houston trip. Looking forward to spending more time with you in the future!

This was a wonderful workshop and I met so many fun people. I was happy to see all of these pictures since it wasn’t always possible to see what people were working on. I really did appreciate the small circle type lessons that you and Gwen gave – I learned so much. I’ve been stitching on my tree today and already I have some new and fun ideas. Many thanks.
