Orvieto Italy

Friday, May 18th, 2012

I returned last week to beautiful Orvieto Italy to teach a 5 day class in this wonderful hill town in Umbria. Bill and Kristi who own Adventures in Italy organize these ‘Textile and taste of Italy’ tours. I have 12 students in class and here is a taste of what we have been doing since we got here. A tour of town, the market, the Duomo and a great cooking class with Lorenzo at Zeppelins.

I will share more soon as it is hard to get time to blog in our really busy schedule.

Woven Threads – Chelan WA

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Wendy drove me to Chelan in early May to teach for Woven Threads. Rosie’s store is in the small town just a few blocks for the lake and the classroom had a wonderful view overlooking the lake. What a great place it was to have a retreat.

Karen shared her lovely version of Robin Run the Hedge on the great blue background and her Folklore quilt.

We embellished leaves for the weekend.  Many different versions with textural fabrics and threads were stitched. It is always lovely to see the many variations created.

Many thanks Rosie for a lovely weekend.

Sierra Quilt Guild

I am sorry for being absent from blogging. Life has been hectic along with the start of our new website and learning a new system. Early in April I spent a lovely few days teaching in the foothills of California. Many of the students shared designs of mine that they had made. It was wonderful to see such a colorful show and tell.

In class we embellished leaves some adding these to trees.

It was wonderful to be surrounded by such enthusiastic students.
