Stitching Hazel

Join us for a hands-on quilting class featuring Jen Kingwell’s delightful Hazel pattern! In this workshop, you’ll explore Jen’s signature scrappy, whimsical style while creating your own version of this charming quilt.
Learn how to use templates for precise cutting, practice playful fabric combinations, and master the piecing techniques that make Jen’s designs so distinctive. This class is suitable for all skill levels — whether you’re a beginner or an experienced quilter, you’ll gain new skills and confidence.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a completed quilt block or a strong start on your Hazel quilt, along with tips and inspiration to continue your project at home. Bring your creativity and enjoy a fun, supportive quilting experience!
Meet the instructor!
Midwife by trade who turned her stitching addiction into a career. Jen is a scrap quilter and the more fabrics she can include in any one project, the happier she is.
She describes herself as "traditional with a contemporary twist" and in her perfect world would hand stitch everything. She loves sharing the serenity of this age old tradition. Author, fabric designer and quilt designer, Jen now travels the world teaching and lecturing and loves returning to her family and store - Amitie Textiles in Torquay, Australia.
Please bring the following supplies to class:
- Gathered Book
- Hazel, Acrylic Template Set or Template Plastic - a thicker one works best
- 4yd variety of colorful fabrics
- 4-⅛ yd background fabric
- Sandpaper Board
- 0.7mm mechanical pencil with 2b lead
- 50wt cotton thread to blend with fabrics
- Applique or Quilting Pins
- Fabric scissors
- Permanent marker if using template plastic
- Straw needles size #10 or milliners needles size #11
- 1/4" simple seam wheel
Class is held in our Ohio Studio located at 3792 Boettler Oaks Dr, Suite B, Uniontown, OH 44685.
Lunches will be provided each day, as well as morning and afternoon refreshments, coffee, tea, and use of our fridge and kitchen. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions!
Supplies are available for purchase in-store during class if not purchased ahead of time.

Cancellation fees reflect the cost of registration, staff, instructor contracts, material acquisitions, and other services. This policy applies to all registrants, regardless of the reason for canceling. We encourage you to take our cancellation policies into consideration before registering for classes.
If you need to cancel your registration, you have the following options:
Transfer:
Registrants who cancel their enrollment in a workshop held in our Ohio studio may make a one-time transfer to any other workshop held in our studio.
- Transfers may be made either in the current workshop season, or any workshop in the following year. Transfers must be made more than 30 days prior to the workshop, and is subject to a 5% cancellation fee.
Refund:
If you prefer not to transfer your workshop registration, the following fees apply:
- More than 60 days prior to the workshop, refund of your deposit minus a 20% cancellation fee.
- Less than 60 days prior to the workshop, no refunds will be issued.
Redirect:
Registrants are able to send someone in their place into the workshop for no additional fee. In this case, no refunds will be issued, payment arrangements are the responsibility of the original registrant if needed.
