 and shape\, excited him. In the 1970s\, Frank Stella's work took a drastic
  turn\, breaking free from previous minimalist restraints. This new maxima
 list work embraced wild\, organic shapes\, contrasting texture and pattern
 \, and loose painterly brushstrokes. Stella even began experimenting with 
 low-relief sculpture\, as some of his paintings became 3-dimensional with
