Mt Sibillini National Park in Mâché, Italy

Sunday, June 22nd, 2014

I just returned from an amazing few days which I shared with my Dad and sister. After my class in Orvieto we rented a car and drove to Mt Sibillini National Park in Mâché. We spent 6 days exploring the area and enjoying all that Mâché has to offer. It is a beautiful area with mountains and valleys and great hill towns.

And a little more of Orvieto, Italy

Thursday, June 12th, 2014

I thought I would share some pictures that I find really inspirational. Orvieto is loaded with texture and layers and I find myself dreaming of endless ways to incorporate these ideas into my work. If you are looking for a way to stretch your creativity this is the adventure for you. I will be returning to teach in the fall of 2015. Contact Bill or Kristi at Adventures in Italy for details.

Our Stitching week in Orvieto

Monday, June 2nd, 2014

We had a great week stitching and creating. All the gals designed a piece incorporating images they loved. Ene loved the arched door ways so she created a piece with a textural background using images of the Duomo and then incorporated a branch using her inspiration from the arched door ways. She added a ‘Sue Spargo Bird’ as she put it which she will embellish with colorful threads and fibers.

Christine loved some of the graphic images like the Fleur de Le and the tree which is a family image that represents one of the four quadrants of Orvieto. She incorporated these on her textural background and then embellished with couched branches using gimp and French knots.

Julie loved the doors to the Duomo. She designed a lovely vase full of flowers using the door image as her flowers. She added cedar trees and plans to add an arch and an image of a bird she saw in the Duomo. She will be adding many layers and stitching to her flowers.

Julia loves Orvieto as this was her second visit. Her texternal background was centered with a layered heart and she plans to add a bird and butterflies. She really enjoyed seeing how her center circles were coming to life with the textural stitching.
