Quilters Station – Lee Summit MO

Friday, August 30th, 2013

It has been a few years since I taught at Quilters Station In Lee Summit MO. It was great to be back sharing my love of embellishment and wool. I taught a one day class creating a new bird needle case and then a two day class around my tree theme. All sorts of shaped trees were created with pieced backgrounds and layered leaves. It was fun to see each students leaves come to life. We played with many new fibers and textures. The weather in Missouri was fabulous really mild for August not quiet what I expected. It was lovely spending time with Rita who owns the store. We had many long chats about quilting.

Madeline Island School of the Arts – La Point WI

Wednesday, August 21st, 2013

It was a wonderful treat to return to Madeline Island again this year. This is one of my most favorite places to teach a five day workshop. It is a true retreat from the everyday routine. We shared the school this time with a photography class taught by Doug Beasley. I love being exposed to other creative mediums and not only quilting.  It is also a great retreat for husbands as there are many outdoor activities to keep them busy. Many fish, cycle, golf and kayak and a couple have also takes a photography or painting class. My daughter Aimee joined me and spent her time reading and relaxing before returning to school. It was good to have her along.

My class was filled with creative students each working on a small embellishment project. We worked on layered backgrounds, small applique elements and stitching using many different fibers. I loved the variety of projects that were started in the workshop.

If you are looking for a true retreat to share with a friend, husband or on your own join me next year at MISA July 14-18 or September 8-12 2014.

Stitching in my Studio

Monday, August 19th, 2013

I just taught the first 2 day workshop in my new studio. We had 8 lovely ladies from around Ohio and Mississippi.  It was a treat to teach in my own studio and not to have to leave home

. We all worked with new and wonderful fibers and experimented with various stitches. Jason treated us to wonderful lunches using his new culinary skills. Kelly kept me organized and was also available for our guests.  I look forward to their return next year.

Delta Junction – Alaska

Saturday, August 17th, 2013

Lonnie Miller organized my amazing teaching trip to Delta Junction, Alaska. I taught a special Alaska designed Salmon bag as well as  a small embellished flower blocks class. The class was filled with enthusiastic students all willing to experiment with new stitches and threads.

I experienced a little of local fare and then Lonnie and Chris treated me to a few days in Denali National Park. It was a great Alaska adventure. A little wildlife, amazing scenery, white water rafting and many laughs.

Thanks so much Lonnie for all your hard work. I look forward to see all the students finished little quilts.
