2016 BLOCK OF THE MONTH
THE PROGRAM IS FULL; we are no longer accepting names for our waiting list.
Sue's extraordinary collection of artisan-crafted cups sets the theme for Block of the Month 2016. Whether you enjoy a 'Cuppa Coffee' or a 'Cuppa Tea'; experience first hand a play on Sue's love of the repetitive image. Join Sue as she explores textural depth and dimension in this large scale, heavily embellished sampler. The border will remain a mystery, a puzzle stitched and solved through handwork at the culmination of the piece.
I am very excited to be entering my 12th Block of the Month (BOM) program! 'CUPPA' will be a 12 month program and the quilt will be approximately 40" square. You may notice my sketch omits a border...this is because I have a mystery stitch border planned!
We will be exploring textural dimension through stitchery throughout the year. Each month you will receive a kit and pattern. The kit may include items such as: hand dyed wools and velvets, cotton and textural fabrics, ribbons and embellishing threads.
The kits for January, February and March will include additional embroidery threads so we have a nice stash to play with.
Where the design delineates a specific drink (coffee or tea) two options will be given so you can personalize your piece to your liking.
This program includes quilt borders, backing, binding and label.
Please note that I reserve the right to make changes to the design (above sketch) as I work through my creative process throughout the year.
All kits are hand-dyed to our specifications. No substitutions of kit contents will be made.
As a requirement for the BOM program, you will need to have my book CREATIVE STITCHING. Directions for the stitches used each month will be referenced by page numbers from this book. New stitches not found in the book will be illustrated in your monthly pattern. Cost of the book is $32.
In addition to each monthly kit, you will need various colors of wool and cotton threads for applique. These threads will be optional additions to your BOM packages. More details on threads will be discussed in a welcome newsletter for those who sign up for the program.
There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee to join 2016 BOM program. This fee will NOT be used as a credit for your first month's kit; nor will it be returned should you have to cancel out of the program.
