Crimson Tweed Book, featured in the December issue of American Patchwork & Quilting (pg. 96), and reviewed in Fons & Porter (pg. 114) Nov/Dec Issue! The backgrounds are wonderful tones of gray and taupe hand dyed wool interspersed by different textures using many Japanese cottons. The blocks are then appliquéd using a fun combination of wools, cottons and hand dyed velvet. A few stitches add dimension to many of the blocks. Contemporary Folk This is my new book from Quiltmania magazine translated in both English and French in the same book. In the 208 pages it features 18 projects including 3 large wall quilts, pillows, purses, table runners, needle cases, pincushions and my funky little birds. Robin Run the Hedge Wall hanging Size - 40” x 57 ½” Queen Size - 88” x 94 ½” I designed the center of this quilt as my 2008 BOM quilt using wonderful hand dyed wool backgrounds and an overall vine, flower and berry design. It includes 13 different birds and is embellished with couching, heishi beads and ribbons. I loved it so much that I decided to go on and make mine into a queen size quilt. It travelled with me all over the world as I continued to stitch on the large borders which have another 16 birds on them. Carol my wonderful friend then machine quilted it with 7 thousand yards of thread. The book is at the printer and we are gathering all our wonderful supplies for the kits in anticipation of its release. Urban Sacs For several years I have been working with a wonderful group of friends from Chardon, a small town in rural Ohio.  We meet once a month on Sunday mornings. Last year we decided to create some bags.  We aimed to make a set of useful sacs that would at the same time be cheerily colorful.  We also wanted them to be relatively simple to construct but have lots of interest. The results are now brought together in this book called - Urban Sacs.  We used upholstery fabric, wool, cottons and leather.  To add further interest the sacs were embellished with cotton and wool threads, beads and buttons. Magnolia Size: 64” x 61” My Magnolia Quilt was inspired by home, garden and family and by the setting in which I experience those three things - the small towns of Ohio.  There is a town in Ohio called Magnolia.  It is a wonderful place which I drive through on my way to my friend Cathy’s home on one of Ohio’s lakes.  Magnolia has many old homes with lovely porches looking out onto colorful flower gardens. In designing the quilt I challenged myself to use many of my collection of textural fabrics and embellishments, as well as hand-dyed wool and cotton prints.  I was able to incorporate hand-dyed velvet, corduroy, taffeta silk and Japanese fabric as well as velvet ribbons, rickrack, hand-dyed yarn and beads.
